My students are always excited to visit the Art room. They show up each week energetic and ready to learn about various artists. They experiment with different artforms and enjoy working with different tools and materials.
With each visit my students participate in fun hands-on art projects that help them reach their weekly learning targets.
Most days my students are so excited about coming to Art they don't even realize they are learning the basic artistic skills that will follow them throughout their educational career and into adulthood.
My Project
The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students will help them fully grasp the concept of realism through the use of color, texture, value, and proportion. Each year we begin the first day of Art with an introductory self-portrait and my students struggle with not having a way to see themselves or even the correct colors of crayons and pencils to match their hair and skin tones.
Purchasing a class set of drawing mirrors will allow students to more accurately depict themselves using correct facial proportion.
Skin tones vary from student to student and these colors do not come in the standard class sets of crayons or colored pencils purchased by our district. Having access to these colors would insure students can create personalized portraits that correctly mirror their individual features and personalities.
