My students need materials to help refill our flat Big Joe chairs, recharge our flexible teaching area with a bench, and light up our classroom with a less harsh lamp light.
Our classroom is filled with fun personalities and lots of diversity! The students are eager to learn new things and take on new projects. My students are hands on learners that love to engage with their classmates!
My students deserve a meaningful and creative learning environment.
In our second grade classroom, we really believe in the power of YET. We are all at different learning levels, but do the best work we are able to! I want to encourage my students to push themselves to their fullest potential and achieve all that they can be! The students in our classroom community are eager to investigate and explore. By working together, doing something we love, learning will take place!
My Project
Close your eyes. Imagine sitting down with your favorite book in a comfy spot and just enjoying the story being read. More often than not this is so hard for students to do in school because they are having to sit on the floor or a hard chair at their table area. I provide as many flexible seating areas as I can and from the looks of our bean bag chairs, it's going well! The more comfortable the spot, the better focused my students seem to be!
Right now, our bean bag chairs are pretty flat!
I am requesting bean bag filler so that we can refill them to put them all back into full working order! This will also hopefully give us enough for future deflates.
I have also requested a new lamp for our reading corner and a supply of lightbulbs to get it started right away. We prefer to turn off the overhead lights and use lamps to have a softer, more comfortable learning environment. The lightbulbs are great to have on hand when we have one blow out as we are working also.
I want to provide students an opportunity to find a place where they feel they can work best. I've also requested a storage bench for our teaching area to make it easier to have students help teach. Students love being able to help teach lessons or read stories to the class.
These items will give our classroom a fresh revamp so that we can start using our comfy seats again, have softer lights to work, and an area for students to help peer teach.
