My students need Learn to Code Challenge Cards to continue their understanding of coding with our class robots. They also need Quixels refills for their set in our Makerspace and a Little Bits tackle box.
My students come from rural Central West Virginia. We are the smallest school district by student population in the state. Students in my classes are in middle school for the first time and attend a 7-12 high school.
I teach students who are highly intelligent but need that extra push at school since sometimes education is not important at home.
These students are caring and kind and want desperately to do better. I have several students who are served with Special Education services as well as many athletes.
My Project
Students currently have a Makerspace where we have a Dot and Dash robots and a 3D Quixels maker. With the purchase of more beads and the Coding Cards students will be able to continue to use these materials.
Seeing my student work with these materials has been a very rewarding experience in my class.
Most students are not exposed to coding and robotics outside my class so this is their only opportunity to work with these types of things.
The coding cards will allow my students to work with our robots and learn more ways to code them as well as sharpen the skills they already have with the robots. It will further enhance their skills and allow for more difficult tasks to be completed.
The Quixels and Little Bits tackle box will help replenish supplies in our Makerspace and organize materials in a more user friendly manner.
