My students need materials to help recharge our classroom, such as packages of Big Joe bean bag refills and lightbulbs. We also need stools and lap desks.
Do you remember walking into school on the first day and feeling so nervous? Everything was new and seemed so new. Boy, have things changed! I love for my students to come into the room each day and be comfortable, it's almost as if they never left home. This year, we have really worked hard to make the classroom a bright and comfortable environment.
I teach an amazing group of third graders with all kinds of learning styles and abilities.
The only thing that they all have in common is their love of learning. They are so anxious and willing to learn new things! I especially love their love of reading!
My Project
Imagine settling down with your favorite book. You get out your book, find a comfy spot, and get lost in the book. So many times that is so hard for students to do in school because they are sitting in a hard chair at a desk. This year, I have tried to make our classroom as comfortable as possible, providing many different seating options. It is going great! In fact the students will do anything for the opportunity to sit in one of the comfortable chairs.
Right now, our bean bag chairs are flat!
I am requesting bean bag filler so that we can refill them to put them back in full working order! This will also give us enough to have some leftover for future “deflates.”
I have also requested a supply of lightbulbs. Lighting is key in a reading classroom. We turn off the overhead lights and use lamps to have a softer, more comfortable reading environment. The lightbulbs are great to have on hand when we have one blow out as we are working.
I have also requested a set of stools. The stools we have in our classroom have seen better days! They are so wobbly that student often fall off of them. The new stools will replace the “wobblers!” The lap desks will allow students a comfortable place to write when they are in a bean bag chair. We have a couple but would love some more to really support the students’ writing.
These items will give our classroom a fresh revamp so that we can start using our comfy seats again and have brighter lights and stools that students don't fall off of every time they sit on them.
