This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach in a Title I School, in North Carolina, and many of my students are at-risk of academic failure. This is many of my students' first time in a school setting. The early learners in my class are more interested in the process of discovering and manipulating materials than the final products of their experiments.
Learning experiences are meaningful and relevant for every child and reflect his or her developmental, cultural, and individual circumstances.
My students love to move and be active. However, because of recent budget cuts, we are unable to purchase additional resources such as the ones requested.
My Project
We have had a busy but very successful start of the New Year. But many if our supplies are running low such as triangular crayons, which are the best for my young students to learn the correct grasp for writing, dry erase markers and ink.
In preschool, these two resources are in use multiple times in a school day.
Currently my students are sharing crayons and I'm hearing constantly how they are missing certain colors. It would be awesome to have a complete set of crayons and dry erase markers that are not dried out to complete activities.
I am also in need of storage carts to house our STEM resources.
These materials will keep our classroom orderly, organized and safe in order to keep them functioning throughout the school year. Preschoolers thrive off of organization and everything having a place. As a result of having these materials my classroom will be able to continue on a path to success. To all of my donors thank you so much for supporting the needs of my classroom
