Our urban school is committed to empowering our students to make our community and world a better place. With the help of our school families, we are relentless in the pursuit of success for every student. Our middle school students are capable of great achievement and we feel honored to help them discover it. Our students' success is also dependent on the world they live in.
We must actively work to create a world in which every individual is valued and their talents are honored and encouraged.
We are a Title I middle school that serves students in grades six through eight. Many of our students have experienced challenges in their young lives in the form of homelessness, refugee camps, foster care, or family illness/death, yet our students have a persistent spirit that is a clear strength for them. As a school community, we actively work to support one another. We recognize that some members of our community have experienced trauma and we want to help lessen their burden so that they can learn and grow.
My Project
Our music classroom needs a few basic supplies to help us finish our year strong. We are running low on beginner reeds for clarinet and saxophone. Beginner reeds are not as thick making them easier to play. Giving students a reed that is too thick results in frustration and intonation issues. We also need swabs for our woodwind instruments. Swabs are used to clean the insides of an instrument after each use to remove any moisture. We need to maintain the quality of these instruments because instruments are used year after year.
With your help, we can finish the year on a high note!
