This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are all over the place! I mean that in the best way, too. I love to see them learn more about music. They all want to grow in their knowledge of different instruments. They love learning in so many different ways and I want to be able to provide for them various routes to learning music theory and music notation and music performance.
All of my band students work very hard and deserve the best, and that is all I want to be able to do for them.
My Project
Having students who love to play their instruments is a huge plus in any band program. Brass players don’t have to worry about how much they play on their mouthpieces because they don’t have to worry about breaking them since they are made out of metal.
Woodwind players, however, constantly have to replace their reeds in order for their instruments to play.
That is why it is so important for a band director to have extra reeds on hand whenever a clarinet, bass clarinet, alto saxophone, or tenor saxophone player chips, cracks, or breaks their reed. Having reeds to be able to just hand to the students is extremely important to keeping them playing in class.
