This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are wonderful and talented! I teach music at a school in Chicago, Illinois. The students are low-income which makes essential necessities difficult to obtain. Many of the students find music as a way to venture out into new ideas and feelings that had never before been experienced. Most of the music students at our school go on to study music in high school and college. The parents and community love the music program and love seeing their children being successful in creating music.

My Project

These supplies are necessary for students to participate in the band program. The reeds are used for woodwind instruments and the mouthpieces are for the brass players. The band is expected to grow this year, which means we will run out of supplies very quickly. The students are amazing musicians that have the passion to play. I would love to see our school year start strong for every student. These supplies will go to ensure that every musician that walks through the band room door will have the highest chance at a successful lesson. The students and myself are excited to start the year with success in mind.
