Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
On the near east side of Indianapolis, Harshman Middle School boasts a diverse student population that comes from over 30 elementary school throughout the city. For most of these students, when they enter band, they are learning an instrument for the first time. This new experience brings out a lot of excitement in my students!
Beyond learning how to play an instrument, they learn how to be a part of a team.
This team bonding and relationship building transcends the band classroom. By supporting the band students, you are helping building a better culture at our school. Thank you for your support of the band.
My Project
In band, woodwind players, use reeds, small filed piece of wood to make their sound. This happens by the reed vibrating on the small pieces to create the sound waves that enter the instrument to produce the sound. Imagine trying to start you car, but your key has a chip in. Your car won't start! Same thing with a reed. Over time, the reeds can get get chipped or simply wear out by the moisture from playing.
A quality reed will help the students start with a quality sound.
Your support will go on to help all students playing clarinet, bass clarinet, alto saxophone, and tenor saxophone. Thank you for your support!
