This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Remember playing in a music ensemble as a child? Intrinsic motivation was gained and responsibility learned. The value of experiencing delayed gratification is irreplaceable. How amazing would it be to be able to help give those same experiences to a group of well-deserving students?
When you enter our band room, you're going to be overwhelmed by bright-eyed, bushy-tailed students who are eager to learn about music.
Due to their socioeconomic background, they are unable to afford their own band instruments and supportive equipment, let alone the supplies needed to maintain them. However, my students are always appreciative of whatever assistance they receive in order to participate in their budding music program. These students are just wonderful to teach.
My Project
With the clarinet section being the largest in our instrumental music program, it's understandable that they would use and require most of the reed supply. Additionally, most of our clarinet players are beginners, meaning they'll go thru reeds faster than their older more mature band colleagues.
Our clarinet students will never stop needing reeds.
With this supply of clarinet reeds, we'll be able to sustain the largest section in the band for at least a semester. This will eliminate one of the many hurdles we face in our band program for the time being. Thank you for your assistance.
