My Project
This year our school will be implementing a school wide PBL for the 2017-2018 school year centered around Nascar and racing. Our K-2 students will be constructing, qualifying, and competing in our first annual Pinewood Derby! They will be running along side their 3-5 student colleagues while they compete in the first annual Soap Box Derby for our school! The resource book will give us great ideas to help us lead students through the soap box and pinewood derby car process.
This amazing school wide PBL will give our students a personal connection to all of the STEM careers that surround the exciting racing industry.
This project includes derby kits for every student to have a hands-on experience by putting together their car from scratch and the materials to modify and test their cars to create the fastest run time possible. Our project also includes a derby track to help us create the best possible track to race our derby cars! We will also be able to modify the tracktop suit each grade levels needs!
Students will walk away from this experience with excitement and content knowledge that will open doors for them in future STEM careers. Their passion will be ignited!
