My students need different types of seating arrangements that support all types of learners and engage students in the learning process.

I have the best kids in the world. Every day I find myself laughing and trying to keep up with these humorous, passionate and outgoing kiddos. They continue to keep me on my toes every day. Although I teach in a low income, high free and reduced lunch school, my students continue to walk through my doors every morning with a positive attitude, willing to give school and learning their all. They are hard-working, driven students. Our school is known for its diverse population, but what I love most is how well the students have learned what it's like to be apart of a community despite each others differences. They build each other up, give compliments, communicate, problem solve and work collaboratively.
My 3rd graders are creative thinkers and dreamers who set goals for themselves.
These students are the future scientists, teachers, lawyers and doctors of our world. And their learning starts with me. The teacher. It's my job to create, enrich and support my life-long learners. My classroom is a safe zone where students can truly explore and engage in the leaning process.
The first thing students do when they come into the classroom is take a look around the room and find where they are going to sit. Many students are forced to sit in tradition, uncomfortable desks not suited for their learning style. This seating works for some students, but definitely not all! Through open seating, all of my students needs will be met to allow for a more successful learning environment. My project will allow all students who come through the door to make a choice on if they want to sit, stand or kneel for the day, hour or minute. These choices will benefit students ability to focus, engage, spread out, be creative, and eliminate behavior issues. Students in my class will be more focused on learning, which will lead to an increase of success.
Your generous donation will give students their seating choice that will benefit their learning and increase their chances of being successful as a 21st century student.
Every day when the student come into the room, they will be able to choose a seating option that best suits their learning style every day. Students will be able to choose from standing desks, wobble cushions in chairs or on the floor, balance balls that can help them bounce to focus, kneeling cushions for the floor, bean bags for comfortable reading and Wobble chairs that allow students to sit, have one leg up or kneel on it. All of these options will meet a variety of learners and lead them to success in the classroom.
