Our school is full of students with a wide range of abilities and talents. We have many programs that are geared towards teaching the whole child. My 80 sixth graders are an energetic group of kids who are excited about learning.
I want to provide the best learning environment for my students.
Arizona is ranked last in the nation for funding so there is definitely no extra money to redesign classrooms to keep up with the times.
My Project
Our world is constantly changing yet classroom design has remained the same for over 100 years. Isn't it time we adapt to theses changes? Students are aware of what types of seating and environment help them work and learn best. Redesigning our classroom to allow for alternative seating will support 21st century skills such as, collaboration, creativity, communication and critical thinking.
Increased motivation and engagement are just two benefits of flexible seating.
In addition, it increases oxygen to the brain, improves core strength, and uses up extra energy so kids can focus better.
Children feel empowered by the opportunity to have choices. Flexible seating is a choice I can give them.
