Being the librarian, I get to teach all 350 students. This project will benefit 200 students in pre-k through second grade and special education. These students love to listen to read alouds! These students are wonderful and eager to learn. They are always so excited to find a new book in the library! They read the books in class with friends or take them home to read with their family. We are a Title I school, with over half of our students being eligible for free and reduced lunch.
My Project
The sixteen books listed on our project are all on the 2019 Redbud Read Aloud list. Students in Pre-K through second grade will have a chance to listen to all sixteen books being read aloud and vote on their favorite. This allows the students to listen to a variety of books. By allowing students a chance to listen to read alouds it provides the students the opportunity to determine what kind of books they would enjoy reading on their own! This will also help instill a love of reading that will help my students become life long learners, which is my ultimate goal! Once these books are used for the Redbud Read Aloud project they will be placed in the regular library collection for all students to check out.
