Recycling Dirt!

Help me give my students a pugmill. This will allow my students to recycle and reuse all their scrap clay.

My Students

My students come to my class to get a break from their regular classroom routines. They get to express themselves and use their imaginations. My students haven't had art classes until 6th grade. For many of them, art becomes their outlet for self-expression.

My students come from small farming communities around the county our school is located in.

Most of them don't have a background knowledge of art, but they are open to learning. They are good kids with outstanding ideas. My students are great at running with the crazy things I throw out at them, but they need some inspiration.

They have great attitudes and I look forward each fall and spring to meeting all my new students.

My Project

This pug mill will help me teach my students about waste. I will be able to show them how to reclaim the clay that they would normally throw away. It will help them to be more mindful of how much clay they scrap each semester.

It will help me teach them how to work together to create new supplies from the old worn out ones.

This pug mill will also save the school money on clay by offering the opportunity to recycle. This is something that our school greatly needs.
