Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
It's great to be able to look back and remember good times. So many of my students have never been recorded speaking, dancing, reading or performing. We have had several plays and activities that my students would learn from and enjoy watching themselves participate.
My school is located in Reseda, California.
I have several students who's parents do not have the means to record all their school performances and activities. Often I use my own camera to take pictures and record certain activities. I would love to have a camera that is easy to use, more functional and easy to download. It would also be easy to teach the students to record themselves and upload the video in the classroom computer. My ultimate dream is to create a digital yearbook with subtitles and give my students each a copy, recording all their experiences and accomplishments during the school year.
My Project
For many language learners, they never see themselves on camera. Often times they come from families that are themselves learning the language and do not have the means to provide certain things. Students need to see themselves. They need to hear themselves so they identify their mistakes and correct them. It is also necessary to view and record all their accomplishments, so children are encouraged and reminded that they can do anything if they try.
My hope is to incorporate video in several of my lessons.
I plan to teach my students how to use the camera and have several videographers. This will enable us to complete our goal of a digital yearbook and classroom movies.
