My Students

My students range from kindergarten through eighth grade. We are very culturally diverse with 36% Latinos, 28.8% African American, 14% Caucasian, and 15.3% Asian. 89.4% of our students are economically disadvantaged. 10% of our student population are children with disabilities, and 19.4% are ESOL students. Our students love their musical classes and ensembles, but with extremely limited funds it is very difficult to maintain, let alone continue to build our school music program. We rely on the kindness of donors to help move us forward.

My Project

With another semester of remote instruction upon us, I would like to provide soprano recorders to my second, third and fourth grade classes. Soprano recorders and a convenient and feasible introduction to instrumental instruction for our younger grades.

Recorder instruction went very well in the previous two remote semesters, and the students were highly engaged and happy to be learning an instrument.

The soprano recorders obtained through this fund-raiser can and will be used in upcoming years either in remote instruction or when we return to our school for either hyrbid or full time face to face instruction.
