Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This school serves one of the most diverse populations in Connecticut. There are over 40 different languages spoken in this school with much of our population being first or second generation immigrants. My classroom is a cross-section of people from around the world.
My students work hard and desire to be successful.
I see this everyday as they take notes, practice the topics covered and engage in the classroom activities. I want to find new ways to engage my students and help make them successful graduates!
My Project
Students will build and launch these model rockets. The two different types of rockets will allow us to 1) launch a video camera to perform an analysis of the launch from the perspective of the rocket and 2) launch an egg and design the rocket to bring the egg back to earth whole and unbroken.
This project allows us to learn about Newton's Laws of Motion, net force and gravity in fun and exciting ways.
Students will be a part of the project from design, to build, to launch and analysis. A true student-led project that will result in deep understanding of the physics concepts.
