My Pre-K classroom is comprised of students ages 3-5 years old. All of my students have varying special needs. Several students are English Language Learners. These students come from Latin American countries. Most of the students have communication needs. Everyone in my classroom has strengths and uniqueness! We have the incredible opportunity to learn new things together and learn from each other.
Many of my students have a difficult time with staying on task and transitioning from one activity to another.
I promote social skills and positive behavior management throughout our day. We celebrate the success of classmates, no matter how big or small!
Our school is located within a low income housing neighborhood. Half of my class is eligible for free or reduced lunch program. Three students live in multi-generational households.
My students love Biology! They love anything that moves and grows! We are always on the lookout for new bugs and caterpillars. We are proud of our new classroom fish and plants. Students love to harvest our vegetables and smell the herbs.
I am constantly on the lookout for new ways to motivate students in my very busy Pre-K classroom!
The materials I have requested will help my students daily with sensory needs. Some of my students may be overstimulated and need to rock or spin with "TeeterPopper" or "Rock Around" to self-soothe. Other students may be under stimulated and will lay down on the floor unable to participate. These items will help this student's brain become more activated and ready to participate.
"Bite Bands" are unique because the band satisfies the need to chew and the terry cloth is super absorbent, keeping clothing dry.
Students having the need to chew, will no longer have to change their clothing throughout the day to remain dry.
