I have been a first, second and third grade teacher for 23 years and have had the opportunity to teach so many students from many walks of life. Teaching is a way to connect and positively affect so many different families. I love being able to see former students grow up into lifelong learners and giving back in so many different ways.
This year I have 22 third graders full of wonder, positivity, and a desire to learn like no other.
I enjoy teaching in an inclusive classroom full of many learning needs. Half of the student population at our 3-5 school qualifies for free or reduced-price lunch. Students come into school each day for a free breakfast ready to be included, listened to and loved. I know my students need more than just sitting and listening. I love to inspire and get students involved in their learning using inventive lessons. I want students to become lifelong learners and help them learn what their strengths are as well as how they learn best. I want my passion of connecting the curriculum in ways that make sense to create a spark in my students making them want to be at school!
My Project
I want my students to enter my classroom knowing they will have fun learning content and test taking strategies. I chose this conference because I have recently read the book The Wild Card by Hope and Wade King and have been inspired by my teammates who have read their book as well as attended a "Get Your Teach On conference".
This conference will help me learn research based strategies, tips and engaging ideas that will positively impact the confidence, attendance and success of my students.
I am excited to feel empowered, recharged and I am ready to GET MY TEACH ON!
