Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a Library Media Specialist servicing two inner city schools in Providence, with grades ranging from pre-k through 5th grade. The library services slightly over 400 students that range in cultural and economic background with 95% of our community qualifying for subsidized lunch. We service a high Spanish speaking population.
The students are lovers of library, read alouds and books of all types!
We are trying to update our library so that it is a central hub in our school where students come together to share, create and grow!
My Project
Our pre-K through 1st grade students do not have access to a playground or outdoor equipment. This recess equipment supports an active, safe, and engaging recess experience for all of our students. The School Smart Segmented Nylon Jump Ropes with Handles will be paired with the Anna Banana: 101 Jump Rope Rhymes and used to teach double dutch. The Pull Bouy hula hoops, Sportime Poly Playground balls, chalk, bean bags, and walking stilts will allow students the opportunity to explore and play at recess time!
Research says that recess is a crucial part of our students' day and these supplies will make recess fun for all!
