The scholars in my class love learning and technology but they LOVE recess, too! Our school has a beautiful grassy field and a paved basketball court with goals ready to use but our class doesn't have any balls to use there. Second graders need to run and play to help them learn and stay healthy.
The students at our school are referred to as scholars.
They come from a wide variety of socioeconomic backgrounds but the scholars are mostly in high poverty homes. Our school's population qualifies for free breakfast and free lunch, as well as a free snack grant. There are many challenging behaviors at our school because of home lives that we cannot control. We accept each scholar and love and care for them. We want to be positive role models and provide a safe and happy learning environment for them.
My Project
My scholars will be using the soccer balls to run and play on the grassy field with one another. The basketballs will be used on the paved court so that the scholars can learn to work together while doing something fun. The scholars will be working together, having fun and exercising!
Healthy scholars that run, play and exercise perform better when learning in the classroom.
Second graders are movers - it's only natural! This project will be a win-win situation - my scholars will be happier, healthier learners that can play and work together!
