My students need game boards and dry erase markers to have fun and be creative during indoor recess!

"We are a team!" "We are a family!" "We are problem solvers!" These are a few reminders that I tell my students each and every day. Being a teacher in a low income school district has been so rewarding, but nevertheless it has it's challenges. I teach 4th grade in a small urban school. Our funding has been drastically cut, so it is up to the teachers to purchase a lot of the "extra" things that help our students each and everyday.
Throughout the school year, I learn more and more about the traumatic events that some of my students have experienced or are currently facing.
Unfortunately these experiences effect my students on a daily basis. No matter how challenging their home lives are, I always try my best to provide my students with a caring community for them to grow above and beyond their expectations!
My students work so hard throughout the day! All morning they are in reading, language arts, and a part of math class. When lunch time comes they are ready for a break! Finally, after lunch they get to recess, one of their favorite parts of the day! Every growing child needs a time to decompress and to give their brain a break! They love going outside, but since it is winter my students need other fun activities to help reset their brains!
I am asking for board games like Uno, Connect Four, and checkers as well as dry erase markers to help my students have fun during recess!
Most of our games are worn out and missing important pieces. Our dry erase markers are running out too, so we only save them for class. My students love to be creative and play "teacher" during recess, but they are limited with their supplies. These supplies will help my students not only have fun, but they will also help them work together! Thanks for helping my students get a well deserved break, so they can get recharged for the remainder of the day! It means more than you know! :-)
