I am a special education teacher at a disadvantaged school in Brooklyn. Our children get 98% free lunch. We would like to make recess a little bit more fun for the students. The students can not go out for recess because there have been too many incidents with gun fire. We are scared to let the children go outside anymore.
Our problem is that because of budget cuts, we have no materials to make recess a little more fun for them since they must remain inside. Right now after lunch the students sit in the auditorium and watch old movies from a projector. What I would like is some new movies for them to enjoy and some games for the students to play while. Students would switch back and forth between games and videos each day.
So, many of the kids will benefit from this and they wouldn't be so bored. Any kind of donation will help us bring some joy back to these kids. Any activities that we can provide would be a big plus for the staff and the students.
