My students need more recess equipment so they can all be actively engaged when they go outside. Hoops and footballs are a great way to help us build our resources.
Recess is important! Students need the creative outlet that recess provides them and having durable equipment is helpful. My students do not have a huge plastic playland to use. Having equipment that makes it through Christmas, especially hoops, is rare. Consider helping us build a quality recess.
My students include 390 kindergarten through fifth graders.
The state mandates that they receive 150 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity per week.
My students attend one of the oldest school in our county, 133 years and counting. The school is located on the outskirts of town in a predominately low income area.
My Project
Hula hoop contests and running plays. I have requested no-kink hoops and junior footballs. These items are probably the most desired on my school's yard.
The no-kink hoops hold up to the pulling and squeezing of a child and will not crease and become unusable.
As you can imagine junior footballs are better for my students because I work at an elementary school. These footballs will be easier for smaller hands to catch. Plus they are soft which keeps injuries to a minimum.
I would like my students to have durable equipment that they can use year after year. In the long run that cuts down on cost because the equipment will not need to be replaced as frequently.
I am the PE teacher at my school and I value physical activity and that is why I am requesting hoops and footballs for my students.
These are items that I am confident will encourage the students to be more active during their recess time.
If I had a limitless PE budget I would not mind giving what I have away, but that is not the case. I feel a bit stingy at times but I need what I have to teach.
When elementary students are using just about anything it needs to be extremely durable. The teachers at my school have tried store bought things, but they are usually chewed up and spit out by the second semester.
