Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from a semi-rural school, south of the Silicon Valley. Though close to the technology epicenter of the world, we still struggle with equity and access. The students are eager to learn and experience new things. They are in fourth grade and will be studying California's history, Energy and Force, Engineering, and Environmental Studies, along with Reading, Writing, and Math. It is an exciting and formative time in their education. We will be jumping in with both feet and we can't wait to get started.
My Project
Recess should be a time to raise one's heartbeat and have fun! Too often kids wander around with little to do and then get in arguments with one another. This project has equipment for students to interact with one another and stay active all through the recess period. The equipment could also be used for a more organized PE activity.
Research has proven that recess/active time is vital to a student's academic success.
We all know that it also plays an important role in keeping kids healthy and happy. This project includes balls, jump ropes, and hula hoops for a variety of different activities. It also includes an electric pump and storage container, to ensure that all of the materials are organized and in good shape.
