My students need a plethora of indoor and outdoor such as balls, scooters, scooter activities, dodge ball game, balance disk, catchacup, and target sets.
I have the pleasure of being part of an amazing group of students. We are located in a low-income area and attend a Title I school. Our school has a large number for students that receive free or reduced price lunch, ESOL, and/or ESE programs. Our class is a full inclusion class with students ranging in all ability levels. We are very active and engaged learners and care deeply about our education. We aim for the stars and travel beyond the galaxy!
My Project
My students have expressed their dissatisfaction with their current playground situation. Their solution is to gain new outdoor/indoor recess activities. Unfortunately our school has a very lacking playground. We would benefit from having some playground supplies for the children to use during recess. By providing the children with equipment that they can keep at school and use on a daily basis would promote school spirit and an active lifestyle. Having scooters, scooter activities, balls, balance sets, and much more will make a huge difference for our children during their recess times. Children can participate in kickball, scooter challenges, team building activities and much more. Children can invent their own games and have fun no matter the season. Let's reduce the couch time and increase fitness and physical activity. Let's get the blood pumping and the heart rates increased. Physical activity, teamwork and friendships are all things our children need to have a successful learning career.
Since we lack playground equipment, our children lack physical activity during recess, they have expressed the need for more options during free recess time.
This equipment will also help in developing team-building skills and positive peer-to-peer interaction. Having more materials means that students can be active and play, meeting our goal of 60 minute goal.
