I am blessed to teach 7th grade in a downtown Title I school with an amazing mix of students ranging from first year ELL’s (English Language Learners) to EC (Sp. Ed.) and AIG (Gifted) students. Many of my students' families struggle financially to provide the necessities and supplies for their children. No matter their home life, my students come ready to learn. So many over the years have told me that school is their safe place, their happy place. I love that I have been given the opportunity to love on these teenagers, even for just a short time, and hopefully have a positive impact on their futures. My students are changing the world. Help me give them the great start to this school year that they deserve.
My Project
This recess equipment will allow my students to work off that built up energy, make friends, practice their athletic skills and stay out of trouble. The variety included in this list will help my students find something they enjoy. I have also found that when my students return to the classroom, they are geared up and more energized to learn.
Without equipment, my 7th graders are more likely to release their energy in less creative and more damaging ways.
