My Students

I have a group of very sweet 3 and 4 year old students this year. They enjoy learning, playing, and story time. I have a special needs classroom and all the children have their own strengths and needs.

My students look forward to story time every day before nap time.

They take turns choosing a book from my book shelf and are always excited when their turn comes up. They especially love books about animals, vehicles, and books with repeating or rhyming words.

My Project

My classroom library was damaged when Tropical Storm Olivia came through the Hawaii islands on September 12th. Water leaking into the book cubby holes and ruined about 70 books, causing mold, stuck and ripped pages. Some of our favorite classic books are now gone and we would like to replace the books we lost.

Story time is an important part of our daily routine.

It builds language, classroom readiness skills, and lets students practice asking and answering a variety of questions. My students are excited to come in from lunch recess and sit down to listen to a good a story. I've been collecting books that are appropriate for preschool over the last 10 years. We read books for each unit of study such as animals, ocean, dinosaurs, life cycles, space, etc.

We would be very grateful for any donations or support in getting replacement books. These books will be read by this and all my future classes. Thank you for your consideration!
