Help me give my students a leg up on the competition at Speech & Debate Tournaments and a broadened horizon when it comes to learning about new playwrights.

Hooray! This project is fully funded
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. When they come into my theatre classroom it becomes a world that has no restrictions on them. They are allowed to be themselves and understand that they will be loved here regardless of who they are.
They show me every day that what makes an effective teacher is someone who personally invests in their students.
These kids are hungry for someone to care about them and to help them see their self-worth. That is why I am in this profession, these kids need heroes and sometimes just sometimes instead of capes, they have chalk stained hands.
This program has been in great need of a revitalizing of our Theatre library. We have been using monologue books that were from the 1990s or further back. By purchasing new books it will help launch our program into the current century!
My students have a great desire to grow as actors and students in Theatre and by helping expand our library you will play a key factor in making their dreams comes true.
We luckily have just started a Speech and Debate team at my school. Using these books will help us as we strive to do well at contest. They are in invaluable to us as performers and teachers, they allow us to show students a wide variety of playwrights and genres.
