This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

No matter the age of my students, they all enjoy listening to read alouds, stories that provide mirrors and windows into their lives, and the lives of their peers and students in our greater community. Now more than ever, it is so important for my students to remember that they belong to each other, and belonging is built through mutual respect, understanding, and care.

The readers in my classroom will have the continued opportunity this year to have a large part of their learning be through read-aloud experiences and conversations.

Through the phenomenal suggestions by Vera Ahiyya in her book "Rebellious Read Alouds," we have collected her carefully curated reading list in hopes of bringing these stories to the incredible readers in my classroom.
