Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in an inner-city school. Some of the students don't have much, so I do what I can to make sure they have everything they deserve in the classroom. It is heartwarming to see their appreciation of each and every little thing. I am a reading intervention teacher. I work with small groups of children pulled from their classroom because they are reading below grade level. My job is to help bridge that gap.
So, the students just need to walk into the room and feel like they love it and can't wait to get started.
I want them to oooooh and ahhhhh when they enter the room. They need to feel like it's ok to be pulled from their class, they need to look forward to it. This will make them feel special.
Beautifying the space will help to promote a love of reading, I hope.
My Project
These materials will make a huge difference in improving my students' reading skills.
The markers and erasers will help them with their individual writing.
They will be able to use them to write and edit with ease.
The reading earphones will help the children with the improvement of their fluency. They will be able to quietly listen to themselves read without disturbing each other.
The timers will be used so that the students can time their reading pace in order to help improve their fluency.
All the material plays a vital role in guided reading and writing. The students and I will utilize these materials each day during our guided reading and writing time. Having new materials will motivate the students to work and learn.
