My Students

I work in a Pre K-3rd grade school in Yukon, OK where I am one of the reading specialists. I work with small groups of students from each grade level (K-3) to help them become better readers.

My students are very enthusiastic about learning to read and want to become better readers.

We read short fiction and nonfiction books that are of high interest. The students are excited to come to our reading group and read a new story each day.

My Project

I attended a Really Great Reading workshop last week with my colleagues. We saw these new kits that they have to teach young students who are struggling with reading. This company is not about selling anything; in fact that was never mentioned. However, we were able to use these kits and fell in love with them.

The Blast Student Kit comes in a box and provides letter tiles to practice the phonics concepts taught in my small groups.

The Blast Student Kit is designed for grades K-2. It is a phonics and phonemic awareness supplemental program for young emerging or struggling readers.
