My students need these virtual reality headsets to experience history, not just study it. For many who are concrete learners, experiencing an event in "real time" enhances the understanding of the event.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are an amazing group of pre-teens. I teach in a Title I school in Virginia, where 80-90% of our students receive free lunch and breakfast programs. For most of my students, their time in school is some of the only encouragement and structure they get. What they lack in structure, they make up for in tenacity and a love of learning.
My students are concrete thinkers and need to experience history rather than just read and write about it.
That is why they need Virtual Reality headsets to use to experience events and battles that shaped history.
Join us and our Relentless, Skateboarding, Tattooed Principal, Mr. B, to enrich the lives of students in a Title l school!
My Project
Many of the students I teach are concrete learners. They do not understand abstract concepts or events in history that happened 100 years ago and how that made the people feel. By introducing Virtual Reality Headsets into my classroom, my students can feel like they're really in the trenches or World War I or throwing tea overboard during the Boston Tea Party. These are experiences that shaped our world, and my students only read about them in books.
For most children of this generation, video games and real-time action are what hooks them.
As teachers, we are constantly competing with it and Virtual Reality Headsets will enhance the learning in my room and increase student engagement.
