Help me give my students pocket folders, colored paper and nametags for our Financial Literacy Fair.
This project expired on February 17, 2019.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
In my role as College and Career Coordinator, I work with students in grades 9-12 at an urban high school. Many of my students come from economically disadvantaged homes and most will be first-generation college students. Their backgrounds are very diverse with 70% of them receiving free or reduced-priced lunch.
In addition, circumstances at home provide a variety of obstacles that impede their academic success.
This includes financial struggles that often prevent them from meeting necessary milestones in their post-secondary planning. Each student has the potential to succeed in their post-secondary goals. I would like to provide more opportunities and access to the tools and supports necessary to help them meet and exceed their college and career goals.
Help me provide pocket folders and colored paper to make impactful and educational packets for our students who participate in this event. The Financial Literacy fair will promote positive financial literacy skills and prepare studnets for the real world.
The lessons learned at the fair will educate students on the many financial challenges they will face after graduation.
The knowledge and tools presented at the fair will develop skills and cultivate a deeper knowledge of financial literacy. All students will be assigned a career of their choosing, salary and a credit score then provided a budget worksheet requiring them to live within their monthly salary while paying for basics such as housing, utilities, transportation, clothing, food and a college loan payment; students must live within their means and balance their budget.
