My students are students that have learning difficulties and require special education services. My students are either learning disabled, cognitively impaired, emotionally impaired, visually impaired, or otherwise health impaired (ADHD or other medical conditions that have caused gaps in their learning). My students work really hard to overcome their learning challenges and have shown AMAZING growth and strength as they try to navigate a world that is set up for a different learner than themselves. My students are an inspiration not only to other students, but to myself as well.
My Project
My students all have areas that they struggle in and receive special education services. These materials will give them a way to learn better reading skills and help them deepen their love of reading. We will use these text throughout the year to read as a class and pair with our reading strategies, to improve their reading. These books will also be used to have students learn about the world around them in a safe environment through discussions and supporting materials. My students love to read, when they are engaged in a high interest text, that also teaches them about the world around them and relates to their everyday life.
