As a librarian in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am aiming to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
Our library is the center of learning for our diverse population.
Our students visit the library often, for a variety of reasons, and I want to continue to serve them in all subject areas such as English, math, science, social studies, and robotics.
Our elementary school is a large, urban public school with almost five hundred students. Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with over seventy percent of our students receiving free lunch. The ethnic breakdown of the school is 39% white, 37% Hispanic, 14% black, and 8% Asian.
My Project
I would like for students to build and create plank by plank by using their imagination and problem-solving skills.. Playing with planks gives student builders first-hand experience with balance, leverage, geometry and principles of physics.
In addition, KEVA Contraptions planks are fantastic toys for teaching children to embrace their creativity and design engineering marvels.

All of these materials will help children use their minds to create, use problem-solving skills, and promote career readiness by working together as a team.
