My students are from a town of 267 people. The community is very small and close-knit. The students are in a kindergarten through 2nd grade classroom because there are not enough students for individual grades. The community is high poverty, and 50% of the students are on free and reduced price lunch. There are 24 students in the school, and I have ten of them which is about half. The students have a great desire to learn, but some do not have all the resources at home to do it which is why I have created this project.
My Project
I will be trying to fund a project for Kindle Fires and engaging sciences texts to improve my students science and reading skills. We will be using the Kindle Fires to experience interactive habitats. Since my school district is low income the students don't always get to experience or see different habitats in the world. By giving a donation it would allow students to experience the world through a virtual reality. The books would be used as an engaging science lesson. At our school we don't have many engaging science books. These books would make science more engaging and fun for the students. I would like to provide a way for my students to grow their reading skills and knowledge in science. I would also love for the students to feel educated about their world around them. I believe with the exposer to the new science concepts will make my students more interest in science. With the students more interested in science I believe that they will look into more science careers in the future. Who knows they could be our Future Scientists!
