Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Did you have fun in math or science when you were younger?I know I didn't!I want to provide our students with different experiences so they can excel in the ever so growing fields of math and science!Help me prepare them to be the best mathematicians and scientists that they are capable of being.
I teach at a Title 1 school with about 80% free and reduced lunch.
My two classes of fifth graders have about 60% ELL students. They are very deserving students who try hard in math and science. My students unfortunately are not exposed to much math and science in the real world. By purchasing these materials - students can see that math and science is truly everywhere around them already. It is in literature, in the kitchen through measuring, and even sports! I hope to provide with engaging activities and books to help them with their language and their academics all in one.
My Project
Since reading is integral in all subjects, providing literature involving math and science is perfect. They can work on their comprehension and the math and science content all in one swoop.
Not only that but small trivia games in different science areas can help our students because excited about these tough concepts they need to learn.
With the resources provided - our children can see math and science in the everyday world. They will have high-interest activities, plus super-realistic props like restaurant menus, store coupons, maps and more!!
