My Students

My students are inquisitive fifth graders who are interested in exploring the curriculum in multiple ways. As a teacher in a brand new elementary school STEAM program, Applications of Art to the Read World, I aspire to provide hands-on projects that are educational and engaging.

Fifth graders will apply elements of art to hands-on projects depicting real-life designs and occupations.

The children will be graded on participation and effort, not on a finished product. My goal is for students to understand and appreciate the possible uses of art concepts and skills in their own world.

My Project

The art materials I am requesting will be used in creating hands-on projects that mirror real-life application of design elements. After learning about color theory, value, shape, line and texture, students will transfer knowledge of these concepts to create an exterior house design, interior design of a favorite room, fashion and sneaker design, cartoons and stop-action animation.

Students will understand how art elements apply to real-life ventures and occupations by creating hands-on projects in several areas of design.

The goal of the projects is to both teach and develop art concepts and skills, and to illustrate for students the possible applications of these skills in their future.
