Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students come from an agricultural community and include high risk, low income students. The majority of our kiddos receive free and reduced lunch. They have exceptional gifts and talents that have only begun to blossom in my music.
They are such curious learners and are ready to bloom into wonderful musicians and performers.
They love sharing their ideas with their classmates and helping out with those who are struggling. They have built a community with music and intend on sharing it with the world.
My Project
Our students have been learning how to utilize resources around them to make music for most of the year. I want to give them the chance to get their hands on real instruments in order to apply standards. They will have the chance to interpret music through movement and use the scarves to display the movement as well as incorporating the hand drums with this. Older students will have the chance to use the keyboard/piano in order to learn a much needed hand eye coordination skill. This also gives them an instant gratification of hearing what they are practicing today.
