My students are eager to learn when they walk into my classroom. They work hard through obstacles in their lives and try their best when they are in school. I work in a school that has a high percentage of free and reduced-price lunches. Sometimes resources are hard to provide.I want to purchase multi copies of chapter books for book clubs so we can talk about literary elements such as plot, summary, and theme. I also want to purchase single copies of books to add to my classroom library. I am purchasing nonfiction text that aligns with my 4th grade curiculum.
My students are leaders because they practice good habits.
I am lucky to have the opportunity to shape their minds and be a positive role model to them. Making connections with students are important too! Books are a good way to make those connections.
My Project
I want to start a book club after school for students who stay after for extra support. I will also use some of these books in my guided reading groups. This will allow students to practice their reading skills. It also allows for deeper level thinking. I want to be able to put a book in every student's hands. I want to provide my students with multi copies of chapter books so I can supervise book clubs within my classroom as well as an after-school club. I am also requesting single copies of fiction and nonfiction books that align with the 4th grade curriculum. The reason I chose the bean bag chairs is to provide a comfortable spot to read.
Good literature is important in any school.
It can take a child places that they have never been before. It increases vocabulary and comprehension which is essential for good readers. If you help with these project you will change lives. Be a game changer!
