Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I’ve been at A.B. Elementary for the last 4 years. I love the school, my students, and the growing community. This year I teach 36 of the most enthusiastic students any teacher could ask for! Most come from single parent and/or low socioeconomic households.

The demographics of our school are looked on as one of the worst in our parish, yet, my students push hard to overcome adversity in the classroom as well as in their everyday lives.

With your assistance, my students and I will be able to achieve success.

My Project

My students are in need of books on their level to create a classroom library. The students participate in Accelerated Reader and loved to work towards their goals daily. At times when our school library is closed, we are often in class without any books to read.

Having these books to read can impact our classroom tremendously.

Reading can expand vocabulary, increase comprehension, and create a love for learning.

The addition of these books would give my students much needed boost of practice in the areas of listening and speaking. With your support, these little learners will become confidant readers.
