I have 19 amazing children who are all 5 to 6 years old! We have 8 girls and 11 boys in our class this year. We live in a rural area on the eastern shore of Maryland not too far from Annapolis.
We have children from two-parent families, single parent families, and several who speak English as a second language.
About 30% of our class gets free or reduced-price meals, and a few take home a bag of food each weekend from our local Backpack Club food pantry program. These boys and girls are excited to learn and are extremely hard workers who like to please their teachers! These children are excited to learn and grow in their first full-day school experience!
My Project
In Kindergarten, my students are learning to read and they are excited about it! We would love to add early language folder games and early reading practice activities to our classroom!
We are requesting folder games and centers which will give my students independent, hands-on practice with letter sounds, rhyming, syllables, sight words, color words, position words, vowel sounds, and more!
Each of these skills is vital to mastering prerequisite skills needed to grow great readers in early childhood classrooms. These activities will be beneficial to my students in small groups, centers, independent time, and also for extra practice at home. Thank you for supporting my students and their early literacy skills!
