My Students

Our school is located in a low social, economic area.

We have a population of over 90% free and reduced-price lunches.

Our students are faced with many hardships at home that they struggle to overcome and move beyond at school. Their opportunities and experiences are limited due to their economic status. Despite all of these things, when you walk onto our campus and into our classrooms, you see a family of learners and educators.

Our staff and administration are dedicated to helping our students achieve their dreams. We work hard to level the playing field among students from more stable economic backgrounds.

My Project

This year, I have a student who needs some assistive equipment to help continue growing and learning in second grade. Recently, one of my students was diagnosed with severe visual impairment. This student became a strong reader in 1st grade, and as they continue their educational journey, they need some more assistive help with their vision.

The materials that I have asked for will allow a student to build confidence in their visual impairment and succeed in school.

The magnifiers will help the student read their everyday work in all subjects. The text-to-speech device will allow the student to have all materials ready for them to build self-advocating skills and build confidence in their learning. The kindle will help by providing a device for the student to access thousands of books through audio and increase the text size for reading.
