My students need the opportunity to read books that can change their lives and help their minds grow. All of these books could have that impact if my students are given that opportunity!
I have the privilege of working with an inspiring crew of second graders. They may not have the ideal home life, but they have the desire to learn and succeed.
I have the joy of working at a Title 1 school where all students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Our school motto is "leap in, get stuck, and push through". There are many times at school and in life that these students get stuck, but the moments they push through are the best moments that make teaching the greatest job. I may be their teacher, but these students have taught me so much more this year that I could ever imagine.
My Project
Do you remember a book that you still remember today that impacted your life? I sure do, and I want to provide that opportunity to all of my eager second grade readers. I want to create a library within my classroom that will change my students once they have finished the book. When they go home they may not have books to read, so I want to be able to provide a wide selection in my classroom while they are at school.
Not only will these books change my students, but they will provide great teaching experiences for several standards.
She Persisted is a great book for teaching character traits, and will be used during our biography unit. Andrew Lost, is a great series to push my higher readers, and a series that my students love. I can not express how much these books would change students.
