Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come excited to learn in two languages. Parents voted a few years ago to have uniforms as dress code for the students. This helps students to stay focus on learning and provides a positive learning environment for each student. They are in the Spanish Immersion Dual Language classroom. They come from a diverse cultural, linguistic, and economic background. More than 85% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. My bright students get an opportunity to learn English and Spanish literacy every day, Math in English and Science in Spanish. 25% of my students' first language is English, and 50% of my students' first language is Spanish, and 25% speak another language. They all share the journey to graduate from High School bicultural, bilingual, and biliterate and it all begins in my kindergarten classroom.
My Project
My students come eager to school learn in Spanish and English everyday. One of the district's goal is for my kindergarten class to graduate from high school bilingual and biliterate!
My students will benefit from having a reliable projector that will help them learn Science, Reading, Handwriting, Art, Social Studies and Writing in a more interactive way.
The projector will allow me to focus on providing meaningful hands on activities that will enhance our learning. For instance, we could tape students reading their writing and we could project the video to the rest of the class. For our Show-and-Tell, families could email me pictures or small videos, instead of sending actual pictures.
The learning opportunities are endless with the right technology, a projector is one way I can provide more learning opportunities to my kindergarteners.
