My wonderfully clever students attend a Title 1 school. Over 90% of the students who attend my school qualify for free or reduced priced lunch. That means 9 out of 10 children in my school live below the poverty line.
These brilliant students have challenges at home and it is my goal to help them have the most opportunities as possible at school.
In my classroom we work hard and we play hard. We learn and we grow. We face challenges head on and we tell math problems that "we're not scared!"
My Project
This upcoming school year, students will be entering the classroom after an extended break due to the Covid-19 pandemic. My students will have been out of school for nearly five months by the time school begins again in August. This extended break will have an effect on their learning. They will have forgotten some of the skills they learned in second grade.
The materials I am asking for will help make hard math skills like multiplication and fractions more concrete and hands on for the students.
I have also asked for some school supplies as I know that many of my families are experiencing even more of a financial burden than they typically experience and I want them to not have to worry about providing their student with the essential school supplies.
