Help me give my students books to support our financial literacy learning and games like Monopoly and the Game of Life to celebrate Financial Literacy Week 2021 with themed days and prizes!
At the middle school, I teach every student and have 4th through 8th grade students which total over 300. With the wide range in grades comes a wide range of interests. My students are very eager. They are proud of their work and like to see it go places. Students have all different interests and I am excited to bring those interests into the classroom.
My students have been exposed to a variety of STEM topics including film production, coding, careers, and STEM.
One course I teach also highlights everyday topics such as financial literacy through hands-on learning. Another of the classes I teach is an adaptive class for students with special needs.
According to our school report card, about 15% of students were diagnosed with disabilities. In addition, about 20% of students are economically disadvantaged.
My Project
I am going virtual to celebrate Financial Literacy Week 2021 this year! I am so excited to host themed days where my students can win prizes while I help show them that financial literacy is everywhere. I always include some fun prizes to go along with our themes like Disney Themed Day, Music Themed Day and many more!
I can't wait to inspire students to learn and engage with financial literacy through Financial Literacy Week and beyond!
I plan to use the games like The Game of Life the Disney Monopoly games to teach skills and the books to improve awareness of financial facts, vocabulary and strategies for money management. Along with my adaptive classes, these learning materials will also help some of my ESL students learn about STEM jobs.
