Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

All students are brilliant in their own way. However, my students are set apart from any other students. They are scholars! Innovative thinkers with creativity and tenacity. When given projects or tasks, they go above and beyond to ensure that it is not only completed, but completed with accuracy. These scholars are capable of creating, expressing, and implying their own ideas and inquiries. Being a scholar is never easy on any level. It requires an abundance of the grit and perseverance my students display on a daily basis. As a teacher, I hope to strengthen their minds to become the next generation of scientists and engineers through technology.

My Project

The purpose of this project is to increase the Reading Lexile Scores of my scholars by 15% this year. I believe the Tablets will enhance the structure of my flexible learning groups, differentiated instruction, assist in the completion of project assignments, but most of all, encourage reading and make it fun.

The 21st Century has brought about a change in our society where I consider us to be in a "technology frenzy", where schools are forced to keep up with the demands.

Schools are moving more and more towards technology driven classrooms, yet my school has very limited technological resources. In order for my scholars to function in this society in the future, we must prepare and expose them to more technology. I hope you can help me do that.

Seeing the excitement on their faces when they have the opportunity to go to the computer lab and work on their projects has made teaching and learning much easier and more rewarding for the me and the scholars. With your donations, it will definitely make my classroom a 21st Century Classroom.
